In fact, if you sorted through the 31 chapters, verses and over 15, words of the Book of Proverbs, you can find just over verses that actually declare what good men and women, boys and girls look and act like, and what the immature, unspiritual, and ungodly opposites look and act like. One of the most striking contrasts is between the Proverbs 31 type of woman who is described as a woman of beauty, grace, wisdom, and excellence; and the Proverbs 14 type of woman who is described as a woman of immodesty, aggressiveness, and evil intent.
God’s Word says that He personally made each one of us, and has a plan for each life: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” (Jeremiah ) For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb Your eyes saw my unformed body.
But he loved hanging out with her. So, I just encouraged him to stay in proximity, to grow in his friendship with her, and to hope something would grow from there. Godliness is sexy to godly people. And so, if you get in proximity, and you see the godliness and character of a woman, you begin to take compatibility and godliness and gospel partnership more seriously than just physical attraction.
In the first part of Mingling , I really address attraction as a good thing, but not at the level to where our culture has put it. We are all wrinkling. Our nose and ears never quit growing. It is only a matter of time till that little component that we are basing so much on starts to vanish and must be replaced by attraction founded on character and covenant. God is not ultimately honored with that kind of self-serving service. Get involved in a community like that, serve each other, and look for God to open doors for dating.
